Politics: A Treatise on Government (ENGLISH EDITION)

Politics: A Treatise on Government by Aristotle is one of the foundational works of Western political philosophy. Written in the 4th century BC, it explores a fundamental question: how should human beings live together in a community? For Aristotle, the political community—or polis—is not merely a structure of government, but a natural setting in which people can pursue a good and flourishing life.

Drawing on his study of numerous constitutions, Aristotle examines the origins and purposes of political communities, the organization of households, citizenship, law, justice, and the different forms of government. His discussion is both philosophical and practical, comparing political systems and considering the strengths and weaknesses of monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy, while also addressing controversial issues such as slavery and the distribution of power.

More than two thousand years later, Politics: A Treatise on Government remains an essential text for understanding the relationship between ethics, citizenship, and political life. With its penetrating questions about justice, authority, community, and the common good, Aristotle's work continues to offer a powerful foundation for readers seeking to understand how societies are formed, governed, and sustained.
